    Over deze groep

Students of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) are using a WºRM21 worm hotel to compost greenwaste at the rooftopgarden of the VU Amsterdam. The worm hotel is part of the ambition of the University to treat organic waste in a more sustainable way.

The vermicompost produced in the worm hotel will be used to feed the soil and plants growing in the Kitchen Garden that is also located on the rooftopgarden of the VU Amsterdam.

This worm hotel, together with 4 more worm hotels located at the Student Campus Uilenstede in Amstelveen, is part of the first OnCampus Worm Hotel Network.

The worm hotel network is used by student residents to transform greenwaste locally into a rich fertilizer for the soil: vermicompost. Vermicompost holds beneficial microbes for the soil and use of the compost aids in increasing biodiversity in and on the soil.

The worm hotel project at the VU Amsterdam is a co-creation between Enactus VU, Green Office VU and Compostier.
